The Perfect Place to Relax and Recharge.

Visiting Krakow and surrounding areas is nothing if not intense. Her past is at the same time dark and stained with blood and illuminated by courage and glory. Her present is vibrant and her future optimistic. Whether you are returning from a day imersing yourself in the horrors of Auschwitz, marveling at the ingenuity and artistry of the Weiliczka Salt Mine or delving into history, good food and fun in Krakow’s main square, you need a peaceful refuge in which to wind down. The atmosphere of the Galaxy Hotel**** can help you absorb what you’ve experienced, and prepare for your next day of exploration.

This four star hotel is located a short walk from the tram, which will take you to the city center and other areas of interest. Although the Galaxy Hotel****, owned by the Jordan Group, is situated in a commercial area of the Grzegórzki district, the atmosphere is quiet and safe.

Our Stay

The Galaxy Hotel**** offers three options among its 205 rooms:  standard, business class and suites. We stayed in one of the standard rooms, and found it to be clean, comfortable and functional. Neutral walls and carpet, along with burgundy accents gave the room a cozy feel. As soon as we entered soft lighting surrounding the TV came on. The painting above the tall headboard may have been meant to represent the planets, but we weren’t sure. No matter. The effect was pleasant. Also, the headboard had movable pads, enabling us to enjoy head and back support when sitting up in bed. And for that extra touch of luxury, soft terrycloth robes and slippers.

The room had a desk and a refrigerator, which contained an assortment of alcoholic miniatures, sodas and snacks. Unlike most mini-bars we’ve seen, the prices were remarkably reasonable.

The bathroom had a window facing into the room with blinds for privacy. But the best thing about that bathroom was the recording of birdsong that ran on a continuous loop. You could adjust the volume, or turn it off altogether. I loved it, and thought it was a delightful touch.

The lobby was furnished with a bar and comfortable seating areas. A compass was embedded into the floor, and we posed Otto in its center for a glamor shot. The staircase leading to the first floor was lit in blue, adding a note of calm to the entire scene.

Staff members were professional, helpful and spoke excellent English. The hotel’s concierge was efficient, and assisted us with both a car rental and information regarding transportation for our departure for Prague.

The breakfast was varied and substantial. Hot and cold breakfast items to suit every taste and appetite were available on the buffet. My favorites? Fresh fruit and salad items, smoked fish and – most important – cappuccino. One of the sweetest surprises turned out to be the scrambled eggs. They were light and creamy, a rarity on hotel buffets.

Our stay at the Galaxy Hotel**** provided a pleasurable beginning and end to each day we spent in and around Krakow. When trying to get the most out of a visit to such a magnificent city, accommodations with the atmosphere and thoughtful touches we found at the Galaxy Hotel**** are especially appreciated.
